Interviews (Interview Archive) Michelle Martineau is a business architect, inspirational speaker and owner of MARTINEAU systems (Turn-key systems for success). Martineau systems offers authentic marketing and high performance business systems, infused with spirituality, for streamlined success. Its clients represent a select roster of peak performers. According to Michelle, "The most important system for success; is our belief system."GW: Let's begin with your sales background, how would you describe your sales history? MM: I use to believe in making 100 calls to get one sale. Now I live 1 delightful lunch to cause and attract 100 golden opportunities to fulfill my life’s purpose and passion. GW: What was your largest sale and how did you do it? MM: I spear-headed an initial foray into a global HIV-AIDS initiative with the Pacific Institute. I worked with colleagues who went on to form TPI Ghana. Being involved with the President of the House of Chiefs, the Health Minister and other high tribal leaders was an experience of a lifetime. I was acknowledged at a global conference of my peers for having the vision. I left the organization prior to this initiative reaching fruition. GW: How did you discover corporate America? MM: I started in real estate as a sales agent in 1983. I became an officer (VP) of a 5,000 member board and Chair of its Public Relations and Communications committee. This engaged me with several corporations on a variety of public and private sector levels. GW: Give us the inside scoop here, how did training help you? MM: I am a voracious inhaler of everything that feeds my passion and purpose. The clarity of my life vision crystallized when I was 25, I am here to guide and inspire those who are drawn to me. I dropped out of high school due to the prevalence of drugs and threw myself into the business world as an entrepreneur. I invent and create my own way. I took classes that had pre-requisites that I did not possess. I attended anyway and thought the worst that could happen is they would throw me out. They didn't. I achieved the CRB designation in real estate that was reserved for actively managing brokers. I thought it made more sense to become qualified before getting the position, so that is what I did even though the system was set-up backwards. Training that sticks is not external it is internal. I have learned based on my receptivity and by my observation. I can watch a speaker and learn far more from the points between the points than the points on the page. Speakers get hung up on content at times but delivery is all powerful. Remember it's not what is said but how it is said and what is NOT said. As a speaker, the highest thing you can do and be is SILENT. Allow people to interpret and IMMEDIATELY APPLY insights for themselves. Remember their insights are outside your control and often beyond your recognition and beyond your specific intention. They hit global intention of transformation. GW: What one thing do you attribute your business success to? MM: Giving myself permission to be bold and beautiful. Approving of myself, following my intuition, speaking from my heart and giving everything without holding back. Trusting in the One I can always trust in, myself. Honoring myself, paying attention to my body and what it is telling me and more than anything, moving into a state of respect for all of my emotions without need to explain or defend myself to anyone else, or even to myself. GW: What advice would you give people who are serious about succeeding in today's market? MM: #1 Your opinion counts big time. Giving ourselves permission to think and be how we naturally think and are is a magnet for those who share our vision. #2 Selling is expressing with confidence and enthusiasm your personal beliefs to people who are in alignment with your vision. #3 Ask yourself what is your vision of your ideal daily life without regard to money or present day resources? What can you see for yourself? Who is the one person whose approval and permission is necessary to believe you are good? What is the greatest gift that you possess and desire to share with the world as your lasting legacy? What is the simplest way of saying what is uppermost in your heart? What do you know to be true as the most important things in life? How do you choose to honor yourself, and therefore the world, daily and moment to moment? GW: Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences with our online community.
